This specialized T-shaped ruler is designed to help you nock an arrow at a precise right angle to the bowstring.
Nocking the arrow perpendicularly ensures that, during zasha (a seated shooting posture), the arrow remains horizontal when the bow is held upright in front of the body—contributing to a more balanced and beautiful shooting form.

By placing the long edge of the T-shaped ruler against the bow grip (yugake), you can also measure the exact height from the grip to the string—known as the grip height.
Knowing this measurement allows for more accurate form checks and adjustments, leading to more stable shooting.

Additionally, the flat tip of the ruler can be used to check the urazori (the natural reflex curvature) of bamboo bows. Simply place the ruler against the back of the bow to assess its curve.
